Skiing: Poltoranin is second in individual sprint in Drammen

Kazakhstan’s skier Aleksey Poltoranin won silver in the individual classic sprint that was held in Norway’s Drammen as part of the 14th stage of the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup, Vesti.kz reports. Norway’s skier Petter Northug became the winner of the home stage of the World Cup. Poltoranin was 2.1 seconds behind Northug. Russia’s Nikita Kryukov was third. He was 4.9 seconds behind the leader. The Kazakhstan skier was leading the race in the beginning of the distance and drew away from other skiers. However Northug managed to catch up with Poltoranin in the end of the race and win the finishing sprint. One more Kazakhstan skier Nikolay Chebotko managed to advance into the semifinals of the event and was ranked 10th. Poland’s Justyna Kowalczyk won the women’s classical sprint. She was ahead of Norway’s skiers Heidi Weng and Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg, who came second and third correspondingly.
